Beauty

Beauty is a six mile course that starts on the beach and then winds its way over gentle grass tracks before attacking the head, a short but steep climb to wonderful views (Black Combe 30 miles to the South, Scafell Pike to the East, Isle of Man to the West and Scotland 40 miles to the North). No time for sight seeing however as its off around some sinuous cliff top paths before a fast descent into Fleswick bay, a muddy scramble and then all the way back to the finish. No tarmac but rough and cambered. There are also a few places where care must be taken (steep steps and some single track where overtaking is forbidden). Entrants must be 18 or over and in relatively good health.

Beast

Beast shares the start and end of Beauty but in the middle there are some "interesting" other bits that stretch an additional six miles or so. One particularly nasty grass hill, a section of tarmac backroad, a lighthouse, a quarry and some amazing cliff views. Out of the kindness of our heart, we will provide a water feed station about half way, and even let you visit it twice. The Beast, as its name suggests is a more serious run and you will need to be fit, with good off road shoes if this isn't to become a beast that haunts your nightmares. Entrants need to be over 18 and ready for anything.

Treasure Hunt

For those who want to just enjoy St Bees, we offer the Treasure Hunt. Enter as a group (one member must be over 18 and responsible for the group) and saunter around our lovely village with a map in one hand and a keen eye looking out for the treasure pots. Great fun for anyone wanting a walk with a difference. We estimate that it is about three miles but this depends on the order in which you find the treasure pots.

All events cost 5 pounds per entry (Beauty and the Beast are single entry, the Treasure Hunt is an entry per group) and all will start on the beach at 13:30 and end - some time later. The Lifeboat Lads have promised an interesting start and may have a few surprises of their own.

Whilst entries will be taken on the day, we encourage you to enter earlier by downloading the entry form on this site. This will guarantee you get into the event of your choice.

Whilst every effort will be made to ensure that the three events are safe, it is the nature of trail runs that the unexpected can happen. As a result, each entry form also features a disclaimer absolving the organisers of any responsibility. Please consider this before entering.
